Hazel was born Sept. 5, 1919 in Bogus Brook Township to Albin and Jessie (Hofferbert) Swenson. Hazel grew up in the Bogus Brook area, attending the District #28 country school through the eighth grade. She became a housekeeper for the local doctor, Dr. Fredlund. She cleaned, cooked and did laundry for him. She met Roy Wedell in 1939 and they were married on Aug. 24, 1941. When Roy returned from the Army, they bought a farm in Chase Brook and farmed there for 38 years. They then purchased an 80 acre farm six miles north of Milaca. Hazel and Roy adopted a son, Dale and they also raised their niece Lois as their own. She was a great cook and a hard worker on the farm. They spent what free time they had going to dances and ball games, playing cards, visiting with neighbors and going fishing. Hazel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Milaca. They moved into the Mobile Manor in Milaca and, in March of 2001, Hazel moved to the Milaca Elim Home after a slight stroke. She died on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the Milaca Elim Home.

She is survived by her husband, Roy of Milaca; children, Lois (Jack) Fritz of Andover and Dale (Roxanne) Wedell of Zimmerman; grandchildren, Casey, Angela (Jason) Lenz, Amy and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Zackery and Abi; siblings, Clifford "Mox" Swenson of Onamia, Ted (Betty) Swenson of Onamia, Marilyn (Bob) Anderson of Milaca, Yvonne Sundberg of Foreston and Velma Wedell of Milaca; also by many other relatives and friends.
