Weather key to changes in attitude A 70 degree change in temperature can bring a 180 degree change in attitude. This weekendís 50 plus degree temps did just that for me and my family. And I suspect many others. As I bopped around town last Friday I saw some delightful sights. People. Happy people. People looking for any excuse to be out and about. People talking to other people on the street. People outside simply to be outside. No longer is everyone bundled up, braving the frigid temperatures, dashing to vehicles or stores, but rather leisurely strolling around town with a smile on their face. And we were treated to an entire weekend of beautiful weather that continued the new and improved attitude. Dressed in sweatshirts and boots, we did what most people do in 50 degree weather - we threw snowballs! Of course, the weekend warrior in us all came back after a long winter hiatus. We found a gob of "stuff" around the yard that was revealed when what little snow we had melted. Itís inevitable, every spring someone in the family says, "Oh, thatís where I left it!" The garage, which had almost as much dirt in it as our driveway, was practically pleading for attention. "Clean me, clean me," it shouted. We obliged, of course, and can now easily fit both our vehicles in the garage without fear of side-swiping a bicycle. A camp fire was kept aflame as sticks were picked up from around the yard. It was just too cute watching the boys hauling the sticks loaded in their Red Rider wagon. And we even made time for a couple bike rides. Stopping to watch the creek and the leaves flowing downstream atop the still present ice, was as refreshing as the bike ride itself. As Jimmy Buffet tunes rushed in and out of my head throughout the weekend, there may not have been changes in latitude, but there were definitely changes in attitude. Now, I just hope the men and women serving in our military will be able to maintain positive attitudes. As we go about our daily lives, enjoying our freedoms, letís remember our President and our troops. May God be with them along the way.
