Burton Carlson
Music was provided by Dale Hunter and Ted Owens. Pallbearers included Bill Aagaard, Brian Aagaard, Amy Aagaard, Jeff Carlson, Carol Dixon, Becky Nelson and Pam Carlson. Honorary pallbearers included the coffee and dice players at the Hi-Way Cafe, the card players at the Legion, his fishing buddies and close friends. Arrangements were with the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Burton died at his Milaca home on Tuesday, March 11, 2003. Burton V. Carlson was born April 29, 1914 in Milaca to Charles and Carrie (Renstrom) Carlson. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 2, 1929. He grew up in Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School. He married Esther Minks on Dec. 12, 1941 in Milaca. The couple lived in Milaca where Burton worked for Land OíLakes. In 1952 they moved to Minneapolis and he worked for National Food Store. After his retirement in 1980, they moved back to Milaca. Esther preceded him in death in 1990. Burton was a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed having coffee and rolling dice at the Hi-Way Cafe and playing cards with the group at the Legion. Burton had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and baking and cooking their favorites, especially rhubarb pies. Burton is survived by his children, Phil Carlson of Milaca, Sandra (Bill) Aagaard of Rush City, Judy (Skip) Buckley of Cottonwood, Ariz. and James (Karan) of Crystal; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Berg of Hopkins and Adelaide VanDuyn of River Falls, Wis.; and many other relatives and friends.
