It sounds confusing, but Community Christian School (CCS) is building a house, in order to build a school.

Construction is beginning this week on a new house in the Hidden Pines development in Milaca, called the Covenant House.

The house is being built by a number of people volunteering time, labor and materials (some materials are being donated at cost).

Larry Kuperus of LBK Builders, Inc. and Mark Baas of Baas Construction are the construction chairmen ensuring a quality home is being built.

Others donating to the Covenant House include Rum River Surveyors, Milaca Building Center, Hjort Excavating, Bauerlys, L&D Masonry, Inc., Amcon Block and Precast, Rick¹s Plumbing, Distinctive Design, Gene Kragt (framing), Streeter Masonry, Dick Ahlberg, Pettibone Nursery, C. Banks Tree Service, M.E. Plumbing and Heating and A.J.M. Painting, Inc.

Over half the lot at Hidden Pines was donated anonymously.

Once the Covenant House is complete, it will be sold and half the monies raised will go toward building a new Christian school in India as part of a project by Worldwide Christian Schools.

World Wide Christian Schools has served over 23,000 students in 14 third world countries.

The other half raised will stay locally and go toward CCS¹s Partners in Education Program or operational expenses.

The 1,300 finished square foot split level home will have two bedrooms and one bath. The basement will be unfinished.

CCS is seeking individuals and/or businesses to donate labor or materials, including drywall, garbage, electrical, sheet rock, finished carpenters, insulation, siding, carpet/flooring and fixtures.

The goal is to have construction completed by the fall.

To donate funds, to volunteer or for more information, contact committee chairperson Amy Banks at CCS at 320-369-4239.
