Albert Johnson
Burial followed at Wendell Hill Cemetery near Milaca. Music was provided by Jon Christensen and Dale Hunter. Pallbearers included Jerry Ingman, Iver Johnson, Donnie Nelson, Larry Sowles, Dennis Nelson and Bob Johnson. Honorary pallbearers included his grandchildren and Dale Hunter. Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Albert Johnson died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at his home. Albert Leonard Johnson was born on April 19, 1915 on the family farm in Borgholm Township. He was the last of nine children born to Swan and Alma (Andersdotter) Johnson. Albert attended school at District 30 as often as he was able through the 8th grade. Many days were missed as it was necessary for him to stay home and help with the farm. Albert was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca. He was baptized, attended Sunday School and was confirmed there. After confirmation he was active in the Luther League. He served as head usher, choir member and on various boards for many years. In June 1953 Albert went to work for the Village of Milaca. On June 26, 1954 he married Ruth Edna Stark who was a nurse at the Milaca Hospital. In 1955 Albert went to work for the Inland Lumber Company. He returned to farming for a few years, but in 1964 began work at Smith Systems Manufacturing in Princeton where he worked until his retirement in 1977. Albert enjoyed gardening, tinkering with small woodwork projects, and jigsaw puzzles. He loved visiting his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their various activities. He is survived by his daughters, Karen and husband Gary Edmison of Princeton, Mary Jo and husband Tim Gruba of Milaca; grandchildren, Angeline (Edmison) and husband Jim Gibbs of Bloomington, Adam and Drew Edmison of Princeton, Andrea, Michelle, and Evan Gruba of Milaca; sister, Mabel Nelson of Milaca; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; two brothers and five sisters. ©Mille Lacs County Times |
