Josephine Jessup

A memorial service for Josephine ³Jo² Jessup was held Wednesday, June 11 at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas.

She died June 2, 2003.

Jo was born April 6, 1923 in Milaca. Before moving to Houston she lived and worked in California during World War II as a ³Rosie the Riveter,² building airplanes. In Houston she graduated from the Lily Jolly School of Nursing and was a night supervisor with St. Luke¹s Episcopal Hospital for 30 years. Jo was a woman of knowledge, strength and courage whose spirit filled others¹ hearts with love and reminded them that life is to be enjoyed. She touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her five children, Charles Jessup and his wife Elaine, Julie Jessup, Jackie Bjornson and husband Bjorn, Jody Burrows and Jani Clements; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Byker and Vernice Asp; and two brothers, Donald and Noel Asp.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hannah Asp; and two brothers, Paul and John Asp.
