Elinor Johnson

Funeral services for Elinor Frances Johnson were held Monday, June 16, 2003 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Jon Olson officiating. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. 

Music was provided by the Zion Lutheran Church Choir, Todd Lines and Dale Hunter.  Pallbearers included Mark Bruflodt, Todd Lines, Mike Johnson, John Thompson, Mark Siemers and Chuck Schmidt.

Arrangements were with the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.

Elinor died June 12, 2003 at the Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.

She was born January 5, 1929 to Otto and Myrtle (Boothroyd) Thompson in Rochester, Minn. As a young girl Elinor moved with her family from Welch, Minn. to Hinckley, then to Red Wing before settling in Milaca, where she graduated from high school in 1947.  She went on to attend St. Olaf College, where she earned a B.S. degree in home economics. Elinor married Curt Johnson on August 5, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca.  She taught in Onamia for a couple of years before working for Dr. Dennis Peterson as a dental assistant. Elinor then became a homemaker and cared for her two children. She was an avid golfer and loved to spend her summers on the golf course.  She was a member of the Milaca Golf Club and the St. Cloud Country Club, where she was the club champion a couple of years. She also played in many amateur tournaments across the state. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping, bird watching, fishing and ice fishing.  Elinor was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca, where she served as choir director for over forty years and was a member of the Eunice Circle.

She is survived by her husband, Curt of Milaca; children, Calvin of Guaymas, Mexico and Sarah (Greg) Dutton of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Liam and Claire Dutton;  brother, Bill (Dorothy) Thompson of Red Wing; sisters-in-law, Ruth Thompson of Brainerd and Dorothy Bruflodt of Milaca; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gene and Lloyd Thompson; and twin sister, Eloise Thompson.
