According to a press release issued by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, the plane experienced trouble shortly after takeoff (under 1,000 feet). The plane crashed into the road right of way along Union Road just outside of Isle. A local cable line intermixed with highline wires was severed when the plane spun around. The passengers were able to exit the plane. The pilot, however, received serious injuries and was air lifted to North Memorial. The sheriff's office is assisting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with the investigation and interviews are being conducted with witnesses and the passengers to determine the cause of the crash.
