Connie Hammer

Connie Rae Hammer, 49, died at her home in Zimmerman Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Connie was born to John and Marlain (Ablard) Hanenburg on Jan. 27, 1953. As a child, Connie attended Pease Christian School for seven years and then moved with her family to the still-operating family farm in the Foley area. In 1971, Connie graduated from Foley High School, then attended Anoka Technical College to become a farrier. She was the schoolís first female to graduate from the farrier program. She kept this profession for eight years. During this time she met and married Tom Hammer of Anoka. They have two daughters, Jenny Fay and Angela Sue. Connie worked 16 years at the Minneapolis Auto Auction - a job she enjoyed. Connieís greatest pleasures in life were her family, hunting, horses, and Harleys.

Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Kay.

She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Fay and Angela Sue; parents, John and Marlain Hanenburg; brothers, John, Dean, Roy and their wives; sisters, Gail and Fay and their husbands; 10 nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 28 at the Zimmerman Evangelical Free Church.
