Milaca drops three games

Milacaís girls basketball team will bid for its first win Tuesday night, Jan. 7, when it hosts Chisago Lakes in a Rum River Conference game at 7:30.
Milaca, which went 0-3 at the Mulliganís Sabre Classic Holiday Tournament last week, then hosts Pine City in another RRC game Friday night, Jan. 10, also at 7:30.
Host Sartell topped Milaca 54-39 in the first round of the tournament Thursday, Dec. 26. Milaca lost to St. Cloud Cathedral 73-36 in the consolation semifinals Friday before losing to Moose Lake-Willow River 51-40 in the game for seventh place Saturday.
Sartell trimmed Annandale 54-41 in the title game Saturday. The Wolves are 0-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

The Sabres moved to a 26-17 halftime lead before outscoring the Wolves 19-9 in the third quarter.

Katie Helmin led Milaca with 12 points. Moose Lake 51, Milaca 40
Moose Lake-Willow River led 34-28 after three quarters before outscoring Milaca 17-12 in the fourth quarter.
Tesch led Milaca with 11 points.
