Lorraine Besser

Lorraine M. Besser, age 79, of Ogilvie, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.Ý She was born to Otto and Setma (Johnson) Norrgard in Mille Lacs County, Minn. on April 28, 1923.Ý She grew up on the family farm near Milaca and graduated from Milaca High School.Ý Following high school and prior to her marriage, she worked as a secretary at the Milaca school.Ý She was married to Morris Besser on November 4, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca.Ý After her marriage, she and Morris lived in Asbury Park, N.J., while Morris was in the military.Ý Upon his discharge from the service they moved to their farm at Ogilvie where Lorraine resided until her death.Ý There they raised their four children.

She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca.Ý She became a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church after moving to Ogilvie, where she remained active all her life.Ý

Lorraineís greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren.Ý She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening as well as watching and feeding the birds.Ý She also loved being a homemaker.

She owned and operated the East Central Livestock along with her husband until the time of his death in 1986.Ý She continued her involvement in the business.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris; and brother, Elmo Norrgard.

She is survived by two sons, Brent and wife Pattie, and Brian, all of Ogilvie; two daughters, Karen Kirschner of Mora and Lynne Besser of Ogilvie; seven grandchildren, Nathan Kirschner, Jordan Kirschner, Brandon Besser, Blaine Besser, Katie Besser, Brooke Besser and Benji Besser; one brother, Wayne Norrgard and wife Evelyn of Boyceville, Wis.; and two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ogilvie with the Rev. Joel Krueger officiating.Ý Pallbearers were her grandchildren.Ý Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.Ý

Arrangements were handled by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.
