Scoutsí Pinewood Derby set Saturday
The annual Cub Scout Pack 19 Pinewood Derby is scheduled Saturday in the Milaca High School Cafeteria.
Registration for Tiger Cubs begins at 9:30 a.m., with racing starting at 10 a.m.
Registration and racing for Cub Scouts is staggered throughout the day, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The final races take place at 2:30 p.m. Each Cub Scout receives a participation ribbon, while first, second and third place winners receive ribbons at each scout level.
This yearís Pinewood Derby will feature a new electronic light system which will signify the winner of each race.
The event is free and open to the public for viewing.

Girl Scouts selling cookies Saturday
The annual Girl Scout cookie sale fund raiser begins Saturday and continues through Feb. 2. Look for local Girl Scout cookie booths at area businesses.
If youíre interested in ordering cookies, contact a local Girl Scout. You can also contact Joni Windhauser at the "Cookie Cupboard" at 320-983-6042 or Terry Wiedewitsch at 320-983-2244.
Girl Scouts of the USA is committed to helping today's girls become tomorrow's leaders. There are five levels in Girl Scouting from ages 5 to 17. There are approximately 60 girls in the area troops which include Milaca, Foreston, Pease, Bock and surrounding townships.
The monies collected through the fund raiser go toward Girl Scout programs, incentives, camps and adult education. Cookies will be delivered in mid-March.

Sno-Daze events are back in February
The Milaca Area Jaycees will be hosting Milaca Sno-Daze events Friday, Feb. 21 through Sunday, Feb. 23.
Events will include a snow sculpture contest, outdoor volleyball tournament, snowmobile rally, medallion hunt and a winter carnival dance.

Milaca School Board seeking candidates
Newly-elected Milaca School Board member Bart Naumann has resigned from the board for personal reasons.
The school is now seeking candidates for the position. Applicants must send a letter of intent to the school district by Friday, Jan. 31.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and live in the Milaca school district.
The appointed position will be a two-year term.The school board will hold a special meeting on Monday, Feb. 3 to appoint a new board member.

There will be a public forum on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the Milaca School Board Room.
"This might be a good time for those interested in considering applying for school board member to ask board members questions," said Zakrajsek.

Read with the Wolves set Saturday
Students of the Milaca High School Leadership Team will be reading books to children on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
This is the third Read with the Wolves event. The students read books to children in groups, based on the childrenís ages.
To participate, bring your child to the main entrance of MHS, by the wolf, where the kids will be met by members of the Leadership Team.

Ice On!
The community ice rink at Rec Park is open for skating. Warm weather earlier in the month has had an impact on the ice, but the city is working on smoothing out the rough spots.
Warming house hours are:
ïMonday through Thursday 3:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
ïFriday 3:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
ïSaturday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
ïSunday 1 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Maywood Covenant
plans open house
The congregation of Maywood Covenant Church invites friends and neighbors to celebrate with them as they dedicate their new building. The old church was struck by lightning two years ago.
Festivities include an open house from 1-3 p.m., a dedication service at 3 p.m. with pie and ice cream following the service.
The new building is located one mile east of Foley on Highway 23, and 1/2 mile south on County Road 66.
