Leona Kostanshek
Music was by Darrel Olson, Bob and Lee Olson and Christina Lease. Burial in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton will be this spring. Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Leona died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at the Elim Home in Princeton. She was born March 30, 1917 to Leo and Edith (Abrahamson) Reed in Hopkins, Minn. She grew up and attended school in the St. Louis Park area. On April 21, 1937 she married Oscar Kostanshek in Milaca. The couple resided in Dalbo for a short time and then moved to Princeton where they raised their family of six children. Leona was a member of the Assembly of God in Princeton. She worked for Fingerhut for a few years and did day care in her home. Leona was noted for her great cooking and baking and enjoyed playing the piano and quilting. She is survived by four daughters, Eunice (Roland) Barnes of Stacy, Carol Guimont of Aitkin, Shirley (Merle) Brink of Milaca and Sandy (Steven) Meixell of Milaca; two sons, John and wife Suzanne of Princeton and Basil of Mesa, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Delores (Andy) Olson of Milaca, JoAnne (Rob) DeBoer of Milaca, Janice Anderson of Milaca and Beatrice Rau of Pine City; and seven brothers, Grant Reed of Monticello, George (Grace) Reed of Vancouver, Wash., Leo (Ella) Reed of Portland, Ore., Sterling (Madi) of Sacramento, Calif., Franklin (Marian) Reed of Milaca, Aaron (Judy) Reed of Kent, Wash., and Russ Reed of Pine City. She was preceded in death by her husband and son-in-law, Brad.
