Bauer paces Milaca at tournament

Senior Brooks Bauer shot a 44 while seniors Tom Hubers and Ryan Westling both had 45s to lead Milaca at an eight-team Rum River Conference boys golf meet Monday at the Princeton Golf Club.

The meet was the first of two RRC meets Monday at Princeton.

Milacaís other scores in the first meet included a 51 by sophomore Phil Sam, a 52 by junior Sheldon Miller and a 53 by sophomore Darrell Nelson.

Mora won the meet with a 168 total while North Branch placed second at 169 and Princeton was third, also at 169. North Branchís No. 5 golfer had a better score than Princetonís No. 5 entrant, breaking the tie.

Chisago Lakes was fourth at 171, followed by Sauk Rapids at 175, Milaca at 185, Foley at 186 and Pine City at 200.

Matt Donner of Mora and Sam Dehn of North Branch both finished at 38 to share medalist honors.

Hubers shot a 42 to lead the Wolves in the second nine-hole meet Monday at Princeton. Westling had a 45 while Bauer shot a 46, Nelson and Sam both finished at 48 and Miller had a 56.

Chisago Lakes won team honors with a score of 159 while Mora was second at 163, Sauk Rapids was third at 166 and North Branch was fourth at 169. Princeton was fifth at 171, Foley was sixth at 180, Milaca was seventh at 181 and Pine City was eighth at 193.

Joe Stafne of Chisago Lakes was medalist with a 37.

Chisago Lakes leads the RRC boys race with 34 points while Mora is second at 32 and Princeton is third at 25. Sauk Rapids is fourth with 24 points, followed by North Branch with 23, Foley with nine and Milaca and Pine City with three points each.

The Wolves host their 18-hole invitational today (Thursday) at noon at the Milaca Golf Club. The sub-section meet is scheduled Wednesday, May 22, at Pebble Creek at Becker at 8:30 a.m.

Milacaís girls travel to Foley for an 18-hole RRC meet Friday at noon. The Wolves then travel to Pebble Creek for the sub-section meet Tuesday, May 21, starting at 8:30 a.m.
