Woodrow "Woody" Carlson

Funeral services for Woodrow "Woody" Lester Carlson, 84, were held Tuesday August 27, at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev Barb Peterson officiating.

Burial was in the Wendell Hill Cemetery near Bock. Pallbearers included grandsons Brent Rotz, Curtis Carlson, Christopher Carlson, Jacob Carlson, Jeremy Hayes, Fred Lundin, Tony and Justin Carlson, Cole Carlson, and Mitchell Carlson. Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.

Woody died on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the St. Benedict's Care Center in St. Cloud.

He was born was born on August 1, 1918 to Carl "Charlie" and Oltilie (Lamprecht) Carlson in Bogus Brook Township near Milaca. Woody attended District 28 country school near his home. As a young man Woody worked at the Lamprecht saw mill and in the Dakota's, bundling, shocking and thrashing at harvest time.

He was united in marriage to Edna Nelson on June 27, 1947 at her home in Bogus Brook Township. The couple farmed in Bogus Brook Township and Woody also worked at Armour Packing Plant in South St. Paul for a few years. In 1985, he sold his dairy cows and continued with livestock and raising cash crops. Woody enjoyed auctions and thrashing shows and collecting old tools. He enjoyed dancing at parties, attending social events, playing cards and spending time with family. Woody loved to listen to old time Polka music.Woody died on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the St. Benedict's Care Center in St. Cloud.

He is survived by his wife, Edna, children, Nancy (Tim) Rotz of Zimmerman, Craig (Julie) Carlson of Milaca, Bonnie (David) Lundin of Stanchfield, Chuck (Donnell) Carlson of Bock, Joe (Michelle) Carlson of Milaca, Jim (Cindy) Carlson of Ogilvie, and Jay (Ann) Carlson of Grand Rapids, MN, 25 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, one sister Mabel Hove of Richfield, MN and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Elsie and Ruby and 4 brothers, Clifford, Carl, Clarence and Bennie.
