Prisoner bolts car, found after search On Tuesday, July 23, Mille Lacs County jailer Bruce Hoskins was transporting a prisoner from Anoka County jail to Mille Lacs County jail when he decided to stop at the Holiday station in Milaca. The officer entered the store and when he returned to the vehicle, the prisoner was gone. The Mille Lacs County Sheriffís Department and Milaca Police Department were called in at 10:30 p.m. and the search was on for Christopher Michael Mohr, 22, of Albany, Minn. Mohr was wanted for a theft in Mille Lacs County, along with Federal drug charges. At 10:35 p.m. a K-9 unit tracked Mohr south from Holiday to Hendyís Auto Service on Central Avenue. The dog lost the scent in the area of Hendyís Auto Service and neighbors were notified in the area that a prisoner had escaped and might try to steal a vehicle. The Minnesota State Patrol was contacted for a helicopter, which was already in use. At approximately midnight, the helicopter arrived and began searching the area with its heat seeker. Within 20 minutes, Mohr who was barefoot and wearing a green, county-issued jumpsuit and handcuffs, was located. He was found across the road from Hendyís in some bushes. There are still questions about the escape, including how the prisoner was able to get out of the vehicle and why the officer stopped at Holiday when he was just blocks from the jail. Sheriff Dennis Boser said the incident is currently under investigation. Federal authorities have relocated Mohr to another prison.
