Annie Eggen
Burial followed at Brookside Cemetery near Milaca. Arrangements were with the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Annie died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Milaca Elim Home. She was born June 13, 1912 to William and Annie (Wagner) Marschel in St. Michael, Minn. As a young child, she moved with her family to the Hillman area. She attended school in Hillman and was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She married Oscar Eggen on Aug. 28, 1924 in Hillman. They farmed on the home farm near Chase Brook until 1939, when they started farming northwest of Milaca in Page Township. Oscar retired from farming in the mid-1970s. In 1995 Oscar and Annie moved to the High Rise Apartments in Milaca. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. She also taught Sunday School at Tibbetts Brook. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and painting. She is survived by her children, Loren (Illa) Eggen of Princeton, Violet Prziborowski of Lakeville, Annie (Jim) Nelson of Milaca, Doreen (Ron) Hoeck of Milaca, Oscar Eggen Jr. of Onamia, Lora (Terry) Mathison of Olivia, Betty Miller of Minneapolis, and Merlin (Mickey) Eggen of Milaca; son-in-law, Jerry Hess of St. Cloud; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; daughter, Myrtle Hess; three brothers; three sisters; and her parents. ©Mille Lacs County Times |
