Klaphake resigns as assistant principal By Dawn Slade Milaca Elementary Assistant Principal Glenn Klaphake has resigned and been hired as activities director at Princeton High School. Klaphake has been at Milaca Public Schools for seven years. "I leave the district feeling a sense of accomplishment in terms of school culture and pride since I began seven years ago," said Klaphake. "In my opinion, the district is now in a position to take the next step which addresses a shared understanding of instructional direction, ownership, and cooperating to improve learning achievement." The school is looking for a new assistant principal and is currently taking applications. According to Superintendent Barbra Zakrajsek, the school has received a number of applications and the position is expect ed to be filled within the next two weeks. "Itís a difficult time. When you have come past the first of July, itís a much tougher time looking for replacement," said Zakrajsek. "But, Iím confident weíll do well with that." Elementary principal Ann Kern said of Klaphakeís resignation, "I always encourage people to move on when itís time. Heís done a very nice job here. Heís a good thinker, a very capable person. Itíll be hard to replace him." "I especially want to thank and declare my respect for the many teachers who, despite pressures and bouts of negativity, go about their profession in ways that are always child-centered, positive and kind towards parents, students and staff," Klaphake added.
