Man misses hearing; warrant issued By DAWN SLADE Mille Lacs County officials were looking for Jon Wesley Geurkink this week after Geurkink failed to appear for a urinalysis test Wednesday, July 31 and a court hearing Friday, Aug. 2. A warrant for Geurkinkís arrest was issued July 31. In addition to Geurkink missing the urinalysis test, the warrant also cited him for violating conditions of his earlier release and for being present at an alleged meth lab in Sherburne County. Geurkink was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Aug. 2 for a contested omnibus hearing regarding his original arrest May 2. The contested omnibus hearing has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 6. Geurkink, 35, was arrested on May 2 after a search warrant was executed at his Pease residence. Geurkink was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine (meth), unlawful containment, tampering, theft, or transport of anhydrous ammonia. Bail was set at $150,000 and Geurkink was released the next day after bail was posted. On May 19, Geurkink was arrested in Benton County for third degree assault. He was released two days later on $10,000 cash bail. On May 22, Geurkink turned himself in on a warrant issued by Mille Lacs County for violating conditions of his release. Two days later, Geurkink was once again released after a $75,000 conditional bail bond was met. As of Tuesday (Aug. 6), Geurkinkís whereabouts was unknown.
