Wolves set to begin
football drills Monday

Practice sessions will begin for the 2002 Milaca High School football season Monday, Aug.12 for all players in grades 9-12. Players should report to the locker room area between 7:15-8 a.m. to register and sign out lockers.

Day 1 practice will include a pentathlon competition for all players in grades 9-12 followed by practice 2, which will run from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Players will receive all paperwork and schedules on the first day of practice.

Two-a-day practice sessions this season will run from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Practice session 1 will begin promptly at 7:30 and run until 9:30 a.m. Players will then be given a break for approximately 45 minutes. Practice session 2 will resume at 10:30 a.m. and run until 12:30 p.m. Players should be out of the showers and locker room by 1 p.m. This schedule will be followed from Aug. 12 through Aug. 21.

Aug. 22 will be the date for this yearís intrasquad scrimmage. A new event will be added to the nightís activities as the Milaca Youth Football Association will be showcasing its teams in controlled scrimmages for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The scrimmage for players in grades 9-12 will follow at 7 p.m.

Milacaís varsity, junior varsity and ninth grade teams will participate in a scrimmage at Albany on Saturday, Aug. 24 to begin at 10 a.m.

Milaca will open their varsity season at North Branch Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.

Seventh and eighth grade players will begin their season by checking out equipment on Sept. 3 during open house from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Interested athletes should report to the old boys locker room to check out equipment sometime during the open house. Seventh and eighth graders should plan to begin practice on the first day of school, Sept. 4. All athletes must have a physical on file with the athletic director.
