Milaca Girl Scouts sponsor H.U.G.S. for Babies
Milaca Girl Scouts are getting babies off to a healthy start through their annual "H.U.G.S. for Babies" collection drive which began on Monday, April 1.
H.U.G.S. for Babies is a service project in which Girl Scouts collect baby items and donate them to area non-profit agencies that serve newborn babes and their parents.
Girl Scouts will place collection boxes in area businesses, and they ask local residents to help fill up the boxes with new baby items and supplies.
Possible items include diapers, diaper wipes, baby food, toys, bibs, baby blankets, baby lotion, crib sheets, rattles, combs, nail clippers, pacifiers, bottles, and cereal. Any item that babies need to grow up happy and healthy is a welcome donation.
At the end of April, Girl Scouts will pick up the collection boxes and sort items. These items will help replenish the supply of agencies that respond to parents who may not be able to provide for all of their babiesí nutrition, environmental, and safety needs.
Anyone who has questions or wants to make a large donation can call Joni Windhauser at 320-983-6042.
A United Way funded agency, Girl Scouts - Land of Lakes Council serves 7,500 girls throughout the 23 counties in northern, western, and central Minnesota. The Council has offices in Waite Park, Bemidji, and Chisholm, with additional staff who serve Alexandria, Brainerd, and portions of St. Louis County.
