Bertha Larson Funeral services for Bertha Melvina (Overby) Larson, 88, were held Tuesday, April 2, at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Music was provided by Shirley Schultz and Brad Holman. Pallbearers were Dan Taylor, Brendan Larson, Jeremy Larson, Jerry Smith, Hank Slocum and Victor Ellingson. Burial was at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Bertha died March 29, 2002 at the Anoka Care Center. She was born May 3, 1913 in Binford, N.D. She grew up in Binford and as a young girl moved to Saskatchewan, Canada. She later moved back to Binford and there married Thelford Larson on July 7, 1933. They lived in the Binford area until 1939, when they moved to Minnesota where they resided in the Milaca area before settling on a farm northwest of Foreston. They lived there for fifty years. Besides maintaining the household and raising four children, Bertha worked at several establishments including Fingerhut and Gorecki Manufacturing. Bertha and Thelford moved to Anoka, Minn., in 1990 and he preceded her in death in May 1995. Bertha moved into the Anoka Care Center in February 2000 and lived there until her death. Bertha enjoyed cooking, needlework, music and keeping a home ready for friends,but what she loved most of all was her family and serving God. She is survived by daughter, Donna Mae and husband Jack of South Pasadena, Fla.; sons, Ronald Lee and wife Ann of Anoka and Denley Thelford and wife Jan of Snohomish, Wash.; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Cliff Hesebeck of Beaver Dam, Wis.; sisters, Doris Keller and Esther Frachette, both of Saskatchewan, Canada; brother, Donald and wife Ethel of Saskatchewan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelford; and daughter, Marilyn.
