Eileen Christians

Funeral services for Eileen Ida Christians, 60, were held Monday, April 22, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Bock.

Burial followed at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Music was provided by Cheryl Bailey and Wayne Renn. Pallbearers included Bruce Turnquist, Russel Eggen, Larry Larson, Ray Paulson, Wayne Renn and Dean Nelson. Honorary pallbearers included Nick McDonald and Justin Christians. Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.

Eileen died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.

She was born Sept. 23, 1941 to Waldemar and Hilda (Schroeder) Fitzner in Echo, Minn. She grew up in Nicollet and graduated from Nicollet High School. After graduating, she moved to Mankato, where she met Calvin Christians. They were married Nov. 20, 1964 in Nicollet. They lived in Mankato for a short time before moving to Tacoma, Wash. After a couple of years, they moved to Mounds View, Minn. In 1976, they moved to Borgholm Township near Milaca. Eileen worked as a cook at the Milaca Elim Home and as an assembler at Medtronic.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to garage sales, fishing and hunting.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele and husband Doug McDonald of Foreston; sons, Jeffrey of Milaca and Staff Sgt. Curtis and wife Andrea of Germany; grandchildren, Christopher, Nick, Katie, Justin and Cole; brother, Marlin Fitzner of Nicollet; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, in 1996.
