It was a night for fun, family entertainment at the 4-H Share the Fun event on Friday, April 5.

Original skits were performed by 4-H members from throughout Mille Lacs County. They danced, sang, and acted out skits for a large audience at the Dahlager Theater in Milaca.

The 4-H group, Woodward Brook of Milaca and Princeton, kicked off the evening singing Lee Greenwoodís song "Proud To Be An American," with a corresponding slide show.

The Busy Bees of Princeton performed a futuristic fashion show, which took first place. The group will now represent Mille Lacs County at the Minnesota State Fair this summer. They were also given an award for imaginative costuming.

The Silver Lakers from Princeton took second place with a musical skit from "Camp Granada." The Silver Lakers also received an award for best use of scenery and props.

The OíNeil Eagles from Milaca performed a song and dance called "Circle of Friends," taking home third place.

The Greenbush Go-Fors from Princeton were giant clovers that danced to "Lollipop." The Go-Fors received honorable mention.

Most original went to the Tibbets Brook Flyers from Milaca and Foreston area. The Flyers performed a skit entitled, "Little Green Riding Hood," in which the forest creatures sang Happy Birthday to 4-H.

The 4-H organization is celebrating 100 years in existence.

The Onamia Kids did a spoof of the television show "The Weakest Link," by enacting "The Strongest Link."

The emcees for the evening were LuAnn Dalchow of the Greenbush Go-Fors and Hannah Hollenkamp of the Brookside Buccaneers. They kept the show going with 4-H information given out in between performances.

A poem, "Ode to Volunteers," was read in honor of all the parents and individuals who help make 4-H happen.

Of course, the show couldnít go on without all the behind-the-scenes help, including ushers, stage hands, curtain pullers, runners, and others. The Brookside Buccaneers and the Foreston Forgers, both groups from Foreston, did not perform skits, but provided much of the backstage work.

Judges for the event were Mary Berry, Anita Gislason and Jane Huppler.

The 4-H organization is working to build a new livestock pavilion at the Mille Lacs County Fairgrounds. Part of the funds were raised through a raffle and toward the end of the evening the drawing was held for the raffle prizes.

Mark Holm of Hill City won a 52-inch television, Arlene Gunnink of North Dakota won a Remington 12 gauge shotgun and Don Freeman of Milaca won a framed Bonnie Moore print.
