Merrill E. Warner, 95, of Mapleton, died at the Mapleton Community Home Friday, May 4, 2001.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 7. Burial was at the Union Cemetery.

Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Merrill was born Aug. 3, 1905 in Olivia to William and Mary Ann "Jennie" (Ewer) Warner. On August 12, 1926 Merrill married Beulah Dean at her home in Olivia. He worked for the Renville County Journal as a production manager until they moved to Redwood Falls in 1937. He then worked as a production manager for the Redwood Gazette until he retired in 1985. Merrill and Beulah moved to Mapleton 12 years ago to be closer to their children.

Merrill was a member of the Masons and the United Church of Mapleton. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Merrill is survived by his wife; two sons and their wives, Ken and Marcelle of Mapleton and Bruce and Cheryl of Milaca; daughter, Marilyn Ek and her husband Leland of Mapleton; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; one son, Dean Robert Warner; daughter-in-law, Dolores; and his parents.
