Pioneers end Wolvesí season 7-0

Pierz trimmed Milaca 7-0 in the opening round of the Sub-Section 18, Section 6AA Baseball Tournament Thursday, May 24 at Pierz.

The loss brought the Wolvesí season to an end.

Dan Saehr pitched the shutout for the Pioneers as he allowed just two hits while walking none and striking out five.

Milacaís lone hits were singles by senior outfielder Nick Pahl and junior third baseman Dave Christenson.

Senior Adam West pitched six innings for Milaca, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out five.

Jeff Rileyís two-run double sparked a four-run fifth inning for Pierz.

In other Sub-Section 18 quarter-final games, Holdingford tipped Becker 11-10 and Foley stopped Big Lake 7-2. Top-seeded St. Cloud Cathedral received a bye in the first round.

Holdingford was scheduled to play Pierz and Cathedral was scheduled to face Foley in the semi-finals of the meet Tuesday at St. Cloud.
