Shear Beauty is a dream come true Dreams do come true. Sometimes the wait is longer than we might expect but Shelley Eisenzimmer, owner of Shear Beauty located at 115 Central Ave. North in Milaca, is living proof that dreams come true for those who donít lose patience. Shelly first won a scholarship to beauty school in the 1960s and was all set to finish the courses but due to situations that arose she had to put aside the dream of beauty college at that time. Shelley moved on with her life and enjoyed working as a wig stylist for many years before moving to the Milaca area in 1974 with her husband Jim. Time passed and the dream of owning her own salon had nearly disappeared when in 1990 her daughter Shannon challenged her to take up the dream again and enroll in the St. Cloud Beauty College. "Shannon challenged me to go back to school and promised that if I would go to college she would join me," said Shelly. "We did it and both graduated in 1991 with high honors from St. Cloud Beauty College. Itís hard to describe how wonderful it was to graduate together with my daughter and finally reach my goal." After working at Shear Beauty for a year, Shelly purchased the business from Marcia Rolstad in October of 1992. The full service salon is a family owned and family oriented business that employs Shelly, her daughter Shannon and Myrtle Lombard, a stylist who has been with the salon for four years. Shannon Lawrance, Shellyís daughter, has now been with the salon for nine years. Between the three women, Shear Beauty offers over 75 years of experience in the field. "Shear Beauty is a full service salon," said Shelly. "We offer nearly every service you can imagine." The many services found at the salon include ïPerms of all types. ïColors, highlights, lowlights, and foils. ïHair cuts for both men and women, as well as razor cuts. ïFacial waxing, eyebrows. ïEar piercing. ïRelaxing facials. ïAcrylic nails and manicures. ïWig sales and service. ïStylish up-doís for proms and weddings. ïHair straightening. "We are a family owned and oriented business," said Shelly. "In fact Shannon, who is a new mother, brings her daughter to work with her on occasion." One of Shear Beautyís customers is over 100 years old and comes to the salon without fail once a week. "We all look forward to her visit. "Our customers become a kind of extended family," said Shelly. "We start getting to know them, sometimes with their very first hair cut and the friendships we have with our customers are the most important and appreciated successes we have here." Shear Beauty is open Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. "We are proud and happy to be a small town salon with wonderful and important people coming to visit us and we appreciate and enjoy our customers more than we can say," said Shelly..
