Gloria Habeck, 76, of Isle, died Friday, May 11 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 15 at Faith Lutheran Church in Isle with the Rev. John Lundberg officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Isle.

Gloria was born Aug. 30, 1924 in Aitkin to the late Carl and Tillie Eklund. She attended school in Aitkin and moved to Minneapolis after graduation. One of her favorite jobs that she talked about often was working for the shipyard while she was living in California. She returned to Minneapolis and eventually settled in Isle. She married Walter Habeck Oct. 13, 1952. The couple settled on a dairy farm south of Isle and raised their family. Walter died May 1, 1977 and Gloria assumed the responsibilities as a county commissioner in Mille Lacs County, a job that she loved for the next seven years. Gloria was the "official mail carrier" of the Isle View Apartments, her residence at the time of her death. Gloria also operated her own mending and alterations business.

She was active with the Isle PTA, 4-H as a leader, Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, president of the Isle Harbor Study Club and member of Faith Lutheran Church in Isle. She enjoyed writing, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Habeck and wife Nancy of Cherokee, Iowa, Roy Habeck of Isle, and Ross Habeck and wife, Dawn of Isle; daughter, Robin Ogden of Minneapolis; brother, Elmer Eklund of Isle; grandchildren, Daniel, Timothy, Aaron, Raena, Laura, Stephanie, Phillip, Paul, and Katherine Habeck and Kristen and John Fellows.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Tillie Eklund; husband, Walter; grandchild, Adam Habeck; brothers, Howard and Leonard Eklund; and sisters, Bernice Mott, Marjorie Peterson and Ethel Brooks.

Arrangements were with the Shelley Funeral Chapels of Onamia.
