ïThe seniors at Milaca High School found out that teaching and running a school is no lazy manís job when they took over the teaching and administrative duties Monday. This is the second year that such an experiment has been conducted, according to Milaca Principal Jerome Rhode, who heartily approves the plan. Administrators and a committee of seniors headed by Lois Fix and Duane Nelson laid out plans for the day. Bob Greenfield and Gerald Nordstrom took on the superintendentís job while Mark Sederquist became school principal. Leo Goltz took over Mr. Rhodeís math class. All seniors had a hand in teaching, coaching or administrative duties. They also handled the lunch program. The students found out that teachers earn their salaries and that a teacherís hours are not just from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The lodge was sold to Chief Izatys Inc., a new corporation headed by J.R. Chappel, president of the Merchants National Bank at Winona. Arthur Roberts of the Roberts hotels is associated with Chappel. Bettendorf started the resort, located on the south side of the lake, as a hobby. It now accommodates 125 persons in the lodge and 25 cabins.
